WHO Mission to Viet Nam

On 11-12 October 2018 Ken Takahashi, ADRI Director, served as World Health Organization (WHO) Consultant to Viet Nam to discuss the impact of asbestos on human health. He did this by attending the Consultation Meeting on White Asbestos Health jointly organized by the Ministry of Health (MOH), the Ministry of Construction (MOC) and the WHO Country Office of Viet Nam.

At the meeting he discussed the issue with high-level officials from Viet Nam, including the Vice Minister of Health, the Vice Minister of Construction, the WHO Representative of Viet Nam, the Director-General of the Health and Environment Management Agency (HEMA), MOH, and the Deputy DG of HEMA, MOH. Viet Nam plans to ban asbestos by 2023 and Director Takahashi is frequently invited by the WHO as an expert in an advisory role.
